History of NSI
NSI started out over 20 years ago in the real estate syndication and development
business. In 1990, as a side-project, NSI began working with Detroit Edison,
Southeast Michigan’s electric utility, on a variety of real estate
assignments. Shortly after that, NSI began providing experienced real estate
professionals to General Motors to augment the efforts of General Motors Worldwide
Real Estate Group. In doing this, it was apparent to NSI’s executive
staff that there was a good fit between the skill sets of NSI and the need
for strategic management of real estate assets especially for large land
owning entities such as Fortune 500 companies and electric utilities. Since
then NSI has secured corporate contracts with the likes of Delphi Automotive,
DHL Worldwide, Kelly Services and others.
On the electric utility side of NSI’s business, NSI has secured contracts
with over 20 electric utilities throughout the Unites States such as American
Electric Power, Exelon, Niagara Mohawk, and Sierra Pacific Resources. Staffed
with former electric utility real estate executives, lawyers and engineers,
NSI assembled a team of professionals with the requisite background expertise
to provide targeted real estate services to the electric utility industry.
